Earlier this month,
Alyssa provided us with a profile of her JBBA experiences:
Hey ya'll! My name is Alyssa Robertson and I
am from Sweeny Texas. I have been showing cattle since I was
7 1/2 years old and can’t believe what I’ve achieved. I’m
currently an upcoming Sophomore at Sweeny High where I’m a
Varsity Cheerleader, Secretary of my FFA chapter, Secretary
of my 4H club, A/B honor roll. I’m very excited to be
representing my school, family, breeders (Toby and Cherryl
Forte’, (Wild Oaks Farms, Chris and Jayjay Jassen, Sam and
Glenda Elledge, and Rosemary and Aj Gambieno) for this
upcoming show year, and also myself.
I am
an active member of TCCA, TJLA, JBBA, TSGBA, AJBBA, and
TJBBA. Looking back I’m still get excited about the
highlights of my show experience. When I was 11, I swept
surprised everyone at our Beefmaster National Show by
winning Jr. Showmanship (Diamond) and Jr. All Around
Champion, which was very exciting. In 2002, I took Grand
Champion Sr. Heifer at the Ft. Worth Livestock show and also
took Reserve Overall Beefmaster (Ginger Lee). Later that
Year in April that same heifer won the JBBA Shreveport show.
This past year in 2005, I won Reserve Jr. Female at San
Antonio (Roz) and ended up 2nd out of 29 with my baby heifer
Shirley who I got from the Forte's and Ozark Embryonics.
Overall I have placed in the top ten for Beefmasters for the
past 6 yrs., been in top three the past 3 yrs, top three in
region for the past 6 yrs, and also in the top ten for
showmanship the past 6 yrs. I think I have been pretty
successful... don't you? Okay, so I haven't won everything
but my time will come. I have achieved winning 20+ buckles,
5 trophies, and way to many ribbons for me to count.
I guess the best things about showing are the friendships I
have made and the time I share with my family. Also, the
lessons I have learned. That's what really matters to me. I
would like to take the time to thank my breeders, my
friends, my mom and dad, Annette Robertson and David
Robertson, and my brother, Buddy Robertson, for believing in
me 100% and giving me this opportunity to learn what I am
about. |
